I have been enthusiastic about tailoring since my childhood. What was a hobby in the beginning became more and more my passion: After my apprenticeship as a dressmaker, I studied fashion design at the Universitiy of Applied Sciences (HTW) in Berlin. In addition to my love for craftmanship, I became aware of the importance of sustainability. Cheaply produced fast fashion meant to last for one season and the resulting impact on people and nature made me think about how to creat a sustainable and fair label.
After intensive research about sustainable alternatives for the production of clothing, I came across industrial hemp. I was fascinated by the advantages compared to conventional materials such as cotton and polyester. Its appearance, exciting structure and old tradition inspired me to focus on hemp in my bachelor thesis. Hemp is unique because of its advantages in cultivation, its excellent wearing properties and special feel.
